Dawn Reno Langley

Dawn’s 1-hour Presentation: Dawn will be talking about “The Ups and Downs of Publishing” and her experience as a writer, working with various agents over the years.

About Dawn: Dawn Reno Langley is a writer, theater critic, mosaic artist, and educator, who has devoted her life to giving a voice to social justice issues. Her first article, published at the age of nine, questioned the likelihood of an attack on U.S. soil during the Cuban missile crisis, and she believes that’s when her predilection toward writing about sensitive topics began.

Her books range from nonfiction works on art and antiques to children’s books. She has been published by several of the Big 5 New York publishers, has published with independent traditional publishers, and has re-released some of those books on a nontraditional platform. This has enabled her to understand publishing in a way few others can.

As a Fulbright scholar, Langley spent time at universities in Pakistan and still works with several through mentoring programs and on the board of trustees for academic journals based there.

She received Fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Vermont Study Colony, and Weymouth Center for Arts and Humanities. She has offered a TedX talk about “How Creatives Can Save the World.”

She is promoting her new novel, Analyzing the Prescotts, and hopes to enter into some important conversations about what it takes to write about social justice issues, as well as the themes raised in the novel.

Jennifer Wilkov

Jennifer’s 3-hour workshop: "Pitch your Project Like a Pro Workshop." Every writer writes a book/project with the intention to publish/produce it, promote it, and pitch it for opportunities they could only imagine they would have.

However, understanding what it takes to actually pitch it, get your book/project out into the marketplace, and attract attention and visibility can seem like a mystery of its own. In this presentation, Jennifer S. Wilkov, multi #1 international best-selling author, award-winning freelance writer and Hollywood business consultant, will show you how to master the art of pitching and promoting yourself and your project!

Break through the bottlenecks, control your inner doubts and distractions, discover how to pitch and promote your book/project with ease, and start using it to attract more readers, agents, producers, publicists, press and clients.

Expect to learn:

  • How to determine the right way to promote & pitch your project
  • What is required to promote & pitch each type of project
  • The basics for understanding the “inner game” of pitching and how to win it
  • The secret to using your book/project as your “hook” in your industry, business, and for your writing objectives
  • Fool-proof ways to master networking introductions with your book/project inside and outside of the industry
  • Proven techniques to use your book/project to reach publishers, producers, and the media
  • Top strategies to leverage your book/project for various audiences, opportunities, and markets
