Instructions for Pitch Sessions

We encourage anyone pitching to do their research before selecting an agent and buying a pitch. Also, as a reminder, pitches are typically for writers with completed manuscripts to pitch. Writers wanting to pitch can purchase no more than two pitches. If there are still available pitch slots at the time registration closes (July 7th), we will make the remaining slots available for purchase. Pitches will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis with a priority to those who pay in full up front.

When registering online please select the agents you most want to pitch to. If you are purchasing more than one pitch, use the text box to identify your order of priority. In the event you do not get scheduled with the agents of your choice, please also include in the text box the names of your other agents.

Pitchers will be notified by email of which agents they’re reserved with prior to the event. A pitch ticket will also be given to those pitching at check-in the morning of the event. This pitch ticket will have the pitchers exact pitch schedule. Pitches will no longer be refundable as of July 15th, so it will be critical when pitchers receive their agent notifications that they respond immediately if their preferences have not been accommodated and they would like to cancel their pitches.

On the day of the event, pitches are prohibited from being sold or the schedule being altered. Pitches are not transferable to any other attendee. In short, we will not tolerate the scalping of pitches between attendees. There will also be no new pitches sold on the day of event nor new slots created.

Pitch sessions are limited to 15 minutes each.

Buy your books at the event!

The Flying Pig Bookstore will be selling books written and represented by this year’s Writers Meet Agents faculty. It’s a great way to keep yourself up-to-date with the industry and craft, and it’s also a great way to say thank you to the professionals and writers helping us put on our program.
