THE CRITIC AND THE MUSE: CLAIMING OUR POWER AS WRITERS

with Topaz Weis, a founder of Expressive Arts Studio

Do you write with a critic breathing down your back, screaming in your head or simply cutting down your words before they have a chance to reach the page? Does your muse whisper gently in your ear, drag you through the dirt behind a racing truck or has she abandoned you to a dark wordless room? This 4-hour workshop uses collage and free writing to help you explore and form a conscious relationship with the invisible powers that help or inhibit your writing. Transform the potential conflicts of interest between these two powerful archetypes. Engage in a process that will bring them together in respectful and productive dialogue. You will leave this workshop with skills to help claim your birth-rite to craft language with the skillful assistance of these two allies.
